How much does being in a sport in high school help with getting into a good college?

I am a senior in high school and I really don’t want to play tennis anymore. I played JV my freshman year and varsity my sophomore and junior year but I really am not enjoying it anymore. I am in the top 10% of my class and in the IB program and also in a few clubs at school. Will quitting tennis effect my chances of admission to certain colleges or scholarship opportunities (non sport scholarship)?

it will not. it looks good on your transcript because it shows you can balance your studying time and other stuff, but it will not ruin your chances of getting non-athletic scholarships. i would stay with it solely because of the scholarships though. i regret not sticking with golf. if i would have, i would have enough money to not have to work AT ALL. so i do regret not finishing the one year i had left. good luck!
