I just graduated with a bachelors degree in Accounting, military officer an option?

Due to the times…

I just graduated with a bachelors degree in Accounting. Although i had two internships, my gpa was high (3.63), and my resume is filled with extracurriculars, scholarships, etc…, I’ve been unable to find an entry level job in Accounting believe it or not…and I live in the DC area.

I’ve been searching for the past 4 months, and I’ve applied online to over 100 companies. Times are tough.

At the moment, I’m considering applying for the Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard as an officer (Officer Training School).

I’m in great physical condition.

Does anyone have any comments about this? Any previous officers on this board? Suggestions etc..

I’m guessing I’d join the rank as O-1.

Much appreciated.

Since you have a college degree, you are eligible for OCS
(Officer Candidate School) for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Army.

Talk to your recruiter, and have them write EVERYTHING in writing that is PROMISED to YOU (i.e. higher rank at the end of boot camp, your location preferences, etc..)

It pays to be persistent and smart.

Sure, give it a shot. Why not? It’s a steady paycheck, good benefits, with the added bonus of serving your country.

Definitely an option, but check the age limits if you’re not a young graduate (I believe Navy is 35 and Army is 40, not sure about AF or Marines).

And yes, you’d join as an O-1, 2nd Louie.

you are definitely eligable for ocs in all the branches. Go online and locate the nearest (oso) officer selection office. i would suggest not gonig to a recruiter. their job is to ENLIST people and will most likely try to. an oso’s job is to find qualified officer candidates which is you
