I want to teach. I defaulted on student loans. Any resources to help a single mom get back in school?

I have three kids 12, 8 and 6. My family cannot help me. I do get child support but it won’t cover me returning to classes. As it is, I work full time and will be pursuing the needed coursework for my master’s in secondary ed in the evenings. I didn’t make enough money to keep up with my loans from my B.A. and they went into default. So, I cannot obtain any additional loans, nor financial aid. I am hoping there is some trust or foundation out there that will assist someone in obtaining a teaching degree. I need about a year’s worth of classes. Does anyone know of any resources, besides the department of education?? They have been no help.

You need to go to http://www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov/
You can consolidate the loans you defaulted on, and after you do that you will be eligible for aid again. You can even take out new student loans. The process takes several weeks, so you need to get started asap. I promise you this is the truth, I had to help a friend do the same thing. Good luck!
