Obama’s Teacher Service Scholarships? – Please help!?

I was just reading online about how Obama is going to create Teacher Service Scholarships where you can have your 4 undergraduate years paid for, or your graduate school paid for if you agree to teach for at least 4 years in an area designated to have great need for teachers.

But when I looked Teacher Service Scholarships up online, there doesn’t seem to be information regarding how you get involved with this.

I’m going to be a senior in high school. Is it a possibility for me to get my undergraduate degree payed for? If so, how do I go about doing this?

Thanks for your help!

You cannot find any information because it does not exist.

It was a campaign promise. As a veteran teacher, I doubt this will ever come to pass. Here are the reasons:

    1. Education is a states issue. The president has less say in education than a member of your local school board. He does not pay us, he does not pay our districts. The only money that comes from the feds have big names attached to it – title 1..etc.

    2. He never said when or how this would happen. It was a way to get people to vote for his ticket.

Sorry to say, you would have better luck looking into state grants and scholarships – thats who is trying to hire you – not the feds. For example – Kansas already has a teacher service scholarship…

Sometimes you can go to high need districts to pay for your graduate degree (remember that a bachelors is not sufficient to teach) My own district has an intern program where the schooling is free, and they hire you while you complete it. Its currently only for math, science and special education teachers.

Sorry to be the one to let you know that sometimes politicians over-promise on things that they cant deliver on.
