Scholarship 2010 – Introducing the Azalea Court for 2010
Five young women have been selected for the 2010 Azalea Court by the Azalea Festival Scholarship Pageant Board.
The princesses for the 2010 court are Kelly Aldrich, Shalynn Doan, Ashley Lueckfeld, Alycia Jacobson and Sarah Lyne Miller. All are seniors at Brookings-Harbor High School.
The court members will begin training for their duties in January, beginning with a speech craft course from the Toastmasters Club.
By tradition, their first public appearance will be with the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce at a membership luncheon later in the spring.
They will compete for the queen’s crown at the annual scholarship pageant on May 1, and participate in a myriad of duties during the Azalea Festival, set for May 28-31.
The scholarship pageant is operated by an independent nonprofit board, which includes several former members of the court. The Azalea Festival is organized by the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
