Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2009 — The Office of California Senator Gil Cedillo will be co-sponsoring the First Annual Ernie G’s Friends & Family Holiday Comedy Night on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The fundraiser will create an opportunity for the newly established Ernie G Scholarship Fund to raise funds to help support and empower deserving students to finance their education. Los Angeles area middle, high school, and college students and their families are expected to gather at Roosevelt High School’s historical auditorium located at 456 South Mathews Street, East Los Angeles for Ernie G’s nationally acclaimed empowerment comedy show which recently made headlines on the front pages of The Washington Post.
One in five Hispanic teens drop out of high school, according to U.S. Education Department statistics, thus now more than ever, Senator Cedillo recognizes the importance of encouraging the achievement of higher education among our youth. Therefore, he is partnering with empowerment comedian Ernie G to provide the community of Los Angeles with the gift of an inspirational performance that will encourage local students to continue pursuing their education while supporting the efforts to raise scholarship monies.
