I am currently looking for scholarships for a private school that is also a boarding school.
I have 2 siblings plus me that would have to attend the school and my family has little extra money. We are all very academically gifted. My brother and i are very talented at sports and my sister is an amazing musician.
I have been looking on the web for informatioin but i cannot find any whatsoever!
Is there any websites that search private highschool/middle school scholarships that you are qualified for?
i know they have somehting like that for college scholarships.
The public schools that we are in now is not very great. There are big classes , teachers dont even know your name! and its very hard to learn. The classes are also extremly easy.
I was wondering if there are any scholarships for children whos parent(s) are firefighters?
I am really just looking for information on scholarships!!!
Thanks

There are very few outside scholarships for private/boarding high schools (like almost none), and the amount wouldn’t make a dent into tuition, like a couple hundred dollars, with thousands applying and just a few receiving. Recently some stopped giving aid. Most kids get financial aid from the school.
There are many extremely academically gifted kids out there, but there are very few merit scholarships through private schools. Most financial aid is needs-based, and the most available tends to be at the top schools. Top private K – 8s are a year to two ahead of even the best public schools. (My son’s private high school is extremely rigorous and uses college texts in 9th grade.) Most students who score in the top percentiles on public school standardized tests would only score in the 60th percentile on private school standardized tests. Students who have been in public schools don’t realize the difference in private school curriculum, grading policies, and amount of homework. Also, realize that private schools can recruit kids who are the best in the area for sports, and those who have won piano and violin competitions, and offer them financial aid (if needed) to attend. Good private schools tend to have 3 to 5 or more applications per space. for
Needs-based financial aid is based on a family’s financial situation. However, they do expect the family to sacrifice, for education to be a top priority, above vacations, new cars, etc, because the aid money comes from the school families, many not wealthy, who have sacrificed to donate cash to the school. There is not much financial aid in K – 8 schools, but there is more in high schools. It is very competitive to get financial aid. The schools prefer to give less aid to more students, meaning that it is rare to give full tuition financial aid. Many more students request aid than receive it. So once they decide which students they will admit into the school, they will look at which ones qualify for aid and decide who to offer it to. Often it depends on what the student brings to the school, maybe diversity or exceptional talent.
There aren’t as many merit scholarships for college anymore. Needs-based financial aid is much more prevalent, but it’s much easier to get compared to high school.
Look at the websites of the schools you are interested in. If you’re thinking about Sept 2010, you’d better look quickly because in many areas the admissions process is over. Some boarding schools have rolling admissions, but typically to get financial aid you’d want to be in the first round of admissions.
Good luck!
