Primary Education – Why I want to be a teacher? need feedback?!

Question about why I want to be a teacher? need feedback?! :
I recently had a university interview for a primary education course (the rest of the primary ed courses i have applied for are specialising in art) it was a bit of coincidence that the head of department said “don’t expect to come here specialising in depth for example in a subject like art) and during the interview the interviewer said to me he had noticed the mention of art in my personal statement..i brought up ideas about being creative (possibility of combining creativity into other subjects) I think thats why i got an unsuccessful in reply to the interview.

The next interview i have got is primary education with alot more specialising in art..ive been asked to take sketch books etc to interview. But anyway i’ve been doing alot of preperation, it says on the sheet “why do you want to become a primary school teacher” (Ive been thinking about this alot/what i could say) what do you think of this????

I am a caring person/good listener and from the experience that ive had in primary school (Ive been doing work experience) I would like to create a positive learning environment for children, one where there is a good relationship between the teacher and pupil. I have developed an understanding of this in the school, I have had the oppurtunity to support pupils on individual tasks such as imaginative writing, maths problems or drawing patterns in art. I have tried
to give the pupil confidence in their work and in themselves, the rewards of this are that the child may not be afraid ao approach me again or next time i go see them they may be able to approach a task by themselves.

If i was to train as a teacher i think it would be a rewarding job helping EVERY pupil and trying to give them the best outcome possible. At the same time I would like to make learning enjoyable, i would use my creativity to come up with a variety of ways for learning ive seen this in the class room with the use of interactive boards, stories using props that might engage pupils or in art class using appealing coloured tissue paper to make prints.

Lastly I have gained an understanding of the teacher making children aware of themselves/their own thoughts and feelings and of the people around them. In

class the teacher has asked the pupils to reflect on somewhere they feel safe or maybe asking them to discuss a question “are some people born bad?” It shows the teacher is important in having an impact on the development of children for the rest of their lives which i feel is a great achievement.

Answer about why I want to be a teacher? need feedback?! :
I am a caring person with good listening skills which I believe are the foundations of a good teacher.

I recently organised work experience at a local primary school that cemented my belief that teacher training was for me. I feel that the class environment should be a very positive place, and I would like to go forward enhancing the interaction between the teacher and the pupil. These ideas have been borne out of my work experience where I had the opportunity to support the pupils on individual tasks which included imaginative writing, numeracy and art. I tried to
positively reinforce each pupil in their own individual work and give them confidence in their own abilities. I found that with this reinforcement, the children weren’t afraid to approach me with their questions, and I know that the next time we do a similar task they would be far more confident in their abilities.

I want to make learning enjoyable, and using the methods that I have already observed and my own creativity, I know that I can realise this dream. Utilising interactive boards, role playing, props, art each pupil can be engaged in the learning process.

I am passionate about training as a teacher. Whilst I know this is a very difficult and demanding job it will also be very rewarding. I feel I have the raw skills that can be moulded and trained by the excellent faculty at the university.

For-profit schools flock to the Higher Learning Commission because it appears to be among the “least demanding accreditors,” Nassirian said. The inspector general’s letter “fortifies the case that we need to take a very close look at what is going on here.”

Nassirian’s Washington-based group represents admissions officers and registrars at about 2,500 public and non-profit colleges in more than 30 countries, according to its Web site.

The Education Department isn’t likely to strip the Higher Learning Commission of its ability to accredit schools, Brandon Dobell and Christopher Shutler, analysts with William Blair & Co. in Chicago, said today in a report.

“We do not believe this letter changes” what Career Education “can expect from their approval process,” Dobell and Shutler said.

American InterContinental had previously been certified by the Decatur, Georgia-based Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

That agency had placed the school on probation from 2005 to 2007 for academic and administrative shortcomings, including an inadequate number of full-time professors, according to accreditation records.

Education Online – South Dakotans turn to online education

The number of students enrolled in some type of distance education course in the 2008-09 academic year was up 17 percent over the previous year, compared with a 12.9 percent growth rate nationally, as reported by the Sloan Consortium. Registrations for individual distance courses also increased last year by 14 percent, to a total of 31,636.

Rajeev Bukralia, dean of educational outreach at Black Hills State University, said one of the biggest factors is that South Dakota is a rural state.

“Adult students who work or have other commitments aren’t able to come to campus,” he said. “And in order to become competitive in a global economy, they are seeking to advance their education. Distance education is really helpful in that.”

Black Hills State is launching more long-distance programs, Bukralia said, including a master’s in strategic leadership, started last year.

“That has become very successful,” he said, and several military students stationed throughout the country have taken advantage of the courses.

“The popularity of distance education in South Dakota remains strong, and it shows no sign of letting up,” Cathy Anderson, who coordinates distance learning programs for the regents, said. “In South Dakota, online education has truly become part of the mainstream of higher education.”

It isn’t for everyone, Bukralia said.

“There are students who prefer face-to-face classes,” he said. “Sometimes on-line education is suited for them, and sometimes it’s not. We want to provide them different pathways to pursue their education.”

An evening of empowerment comedy, music and spoken word poetry to raise scholarship funds, event begins Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.”

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2009 — The Office of California Senator Gil Cedillo will be co-sponsoring the First Annual Ernie G’s Friends & Family Holiday Comedy Night on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The fundraiser will create an opportunity for the newly established Ernie G Scholarship Fund to raise funds to help support and empower deserving students to finance their education. Los Angeles area middle, high school, and college students and their families are expected to gather at Roosevelt High School’s historical auditorium located at 456 South Mathews Street, East Los Angeles for Ernie G’s nationally acclaimed empowerment comedy show which recently made headlines on the front pages of The Washington Post.

One in five Hispanic teens drop out of high school, according to U.S. Education Department statistics, thus now more than ever, Senator Cedillo recognizes the importance of encouraging the achievement of higher education among our youth. Therefore, he is partnering with empowerment comedian Ernie G to provide the community of Los Angeles with the gift of an inspirational performance that will encourage local students to continue pursuing their education while supporting the efforts to raise scholarship monies.

The purpose of the Continuing Professional Education is to assist Certified Public Accountants in maintaining professional knowledge and competence. The Public Accountancy Act (Section 1-136.01) requires that licensees with an active permit to practice shall have completed acceptable continuing education in the amount of 80 hours within the two preceding calendar years for the renewal of a permit to practice. All hours are required to be reported by January 31st. Each reporting year is based on whether the individual has an odd or even birth year.

The new reporting program offers a simple streamlined process of reporting education hours, making edits, viewing past history and previewing session activity before submitting the information. In addition, the program will notify CPA’s through email, within the last month of their deadline, as a reminder to report their hours.

“We’re excited to offer an enhanced system that better meets the needs of CPA’s in reporting their hours,” said Dan Sweetwood, Director of the Board of Public Accountancy. “We look forward to continuing to work with Nebraska.gov in also enhancing License Renewals, which will be ready by summer 2010.”

Home-court advantage it isn’t, at least not yet.

In fact, Morgan State came away with all the perks in an 80-67 win that opened a new era at Coppin before an announced 3,189 and another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basketball season. Perks? Reggie Holmes celebrated the first dunk of his four-year career at Morgan, courtesy of a breakaway pass from freshman DeWayne Jackson, and scored a game-high 24 points. Kevin Thompson, at 6 feet 8, dominated the inside game with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
